What is a Grid/Table Widget Plot Type?
The grid/table is a type of data widget that produces a table display of the data (see the image below).
When creating a grid/table widget, you are given five plot type options which result in a different visual effect for the given data:
- Default
- Heat Map
- Classic
- Conditional Map
- Grouped Column
The remainder of this article discusses which use cases are best suited to which plot type. To learn about styling the grid/table widget, see How to Style the Grid/Table Widget.
Best Use Cases for Each Plot Type
Classic
The Classic plot is TapClicks' current grid style. It is preserved for backward compatibility.
Default
The Default plot is a new grid/table style with options for font size, font color, font style, font weight, grid display/hide, wrap text, and alternating row colors and backgrounds.
Grouped Column
Grouped Column plot is a new grid/table style with the ability to create multiple groupings of metrics by column and label them. Grouped Columns are styled with different background colors for better legibility and emphasis.
NOTE: The standard colors shown are determined by preferences set in Platform Settings. |
Heat Map
The brand-new grid/table style known as Heat Map enables users to select a background color for each column in order to display the dataset's metric values in a range of gradations. You can see in the images below the effect of toggling on the gradient option.
