How to connect Twitter to TapClicks
Both Twitter and Twitter Ads are easy to connect to TapClicks using an Instant-On Connector. The authentication process is easy and takes only a few seconds.
Important Note: It is not uncommon for you to be logged into your Twitter account or other social media data sources on your devices. You may intend to connect to a client's Twitter account, but inadvertently authenticate your personal account. This is why we recommend you logout of your personal social media accounts before beginning the following process.
- Navigate to the Manage Data Sources page. This is found in the left sidebar in the Data Sources section.
- Find the Twitter tile and click Connect.
- A Twitter page opens for you to authenticate your Twitter account using your client's username and password. Enter the credentials of the account you want to authenticate with TapClicks. You will be able to authenticate more than one account if necessary after you have setup your initial connection.
Once you enter your credentials, click Authorize App.
After you authorize Twitter, a notification appears while the request is processed. This can take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute. After the authorization is complete, you are redirected back to the TapClicks interface.
- After connecting Twitter, you need to assign clients. This is a two-step process.
The first step is to select a Twitter campaign on the left side of the screen, and then choose the client using a dropdown on the right side of the screen. This process links a Twitter campaign to a specific client. This process is called Mapping Clients.
If you don't see the client you're looking for in the dropdown list, you can create a new client by entering the name of the client in the field: Create a new Client to Assign to.
- Then click Assign Client.
- And you're done!
After connecting your Twitter account, you can monitor the status of your connection using the Connection Status feature. To access this feature, navigate to the Administration section of the sidebar navigation, and scroll to Connection Status.
The Connection Status screen displays information about the connection, including: the date of the most recent data fetch, and duration of lookback periods, among other useful information.

Why do I have Tweets showing but no account related data?
Twitter Social does provide Tweets dated before the connection date, so there is nothing wrong. However the reason they are there, but there is no data at the higher levels is because Twitter handles the data differently. Account related data is more restricted and we don't get any historical data, whereas Tweets are more public.
