Before you begin: This guide shows you how to conduct research on SEO competitors. Research includes SEO traffic, organic keywords and organic competitors.
How to Search for the SEO Competitor
To conduct SEO competitor research, you start by entering a URL into a search box.
1] Login to TapClicks and on the left side menu click Raven.
2] Click Competitor Research. The new search page appears.
3] Enter the competitor's URL into the search box.
4] From the dropdown menu, select your country.
5] Click Search. When the PPC Summary page appears click the SEO Summary tab.
6] The SEO Summary page appears with estimated stats, as of the prior month, at the top. You can see the competitor in the upper left corner.
How to View SEO Competitors' Last Year's Stats
Viewing SEO competitors' last year's stats means viewing data for the prior 12 months on a month by month basis, which includes a graph of the data.
6] Hover your mouse over the SEO Traffic graph to see the value of the SEO traffic (in dollars) for a particular month.
How to View SEO Competitors' Top Organic Keywords
Viewing SEO competitor's top organic keywords means seeing the number and keywords the competitor ranks for including average position and position trend.
7] Scroll down to the Top Organic Keywords in Google section. This list displays the competitor's top organic keywords for specific pages (indicated on the left) in Google.
8] The number under 1st Page Keywords equals the number of organic keywords on the first page for Google.
9] Hover your mouse over the line graphs under Pos Trend and Trend to get specific values for a particular month.
10] To view more organic keywords for a specific page, click the View More button at the bottom of the keyword list for that page.
11] To view more pages from this competitor with top organic keywords, click the View More button at the bottom of the section. This takes you to the Organic Keywords page.
12] To export the list of organic keywords, from the Organic Keywords page, click Export.
13] Scroll down to the Top Organic Keywords in Google (Ungrouped) section. This list displays the competitor's top organic keywords on Google (with no regard to which site they support).
14] Hover your mouse over the line graphs under Trend to get specific values for a particular month.
15] To view more organic keywords from this competitor, click the View More button at the bottom of the section.
How to View Top Organic Competitors
Viewing top organic competitors means seeing the competitors with the most keywords in common to the competitor you are researching.
16] Scroll down to the Top Organic Competitors in Google section. This list displays, sorted by number of overlapping organic keywords, the top competitors for the competitor you're researching.
17] To view more organic competitors in Google, click the View More button at the bottom of the section. This takes you to the Competitors page.
18] To view SEO competitor data for advertisers on other networks, scroll back up to the Top Organic Keywords in Google section and click Bing/Yahoo! and go back to step 6.
