How come I can’t see any historical data for Twitter?
Twitter data is a snapshot of a moment in time and doesn’t provide a way to get historical data from the past. Real-time data providers don’t have a problem with empty days in the past because they show data “at this moment”. A benefit of using TapClicks is that it stores your data over time, each snapshot, one per day, for trend analysis. (which is something that others / Twitter doesn’t make easily available to external parties). It is considered a best practice is to connect your data as soon as possible so TapClicks will begin collecting it.
Why do I have tweets showing but no account-related data?
Twitter does provide tweets dated before the connection date, so there is nothing wrong. However, the reason there is no data at the higher levels is that Twitter handles the data differently. Account-related data is more restricted by Twitter, whereas tweets are more public.
Why is it that when I look for new followers the number is inflated?
The first time you connect to your Twitter data, TapClicks will store your current number of followers in the database. To calculate the New Followers, that data is compared to the previous day’s Follower count. So, the first day when TapClicks starts tracking, this data will appear inflated. From that point forward the New Followers will normalize.
What if I need data from Twitter that TapClicks doesn't quite support?
There are a few ways to approach this situation.
1] Create a Smart Connector to bring data into your dashboard.
- This will allow you to get to your data fast.
- This path could be used in the long term.
- Or you can use this path while waiting for an enhancement to the Twitter connector.
2] Submit a request to the product team to evaluate bringing this data into the Instant On connector.
- Make sure to include report extract examples so that we can review exactly the dimensions and metrics you’re looking for in your dashboard.
- If you need help with this process, feel free to reach out to your Customer Success Manager or customercare@tapclicks.com.
What fields are available for this data source?
After you connect a data source to TapClicks, you can use that data in your reports. These fields are organized into groups of similar types of data called Data Views.
For Twitter, you will find a list of all dimensions and fields available for use in TapClicks, organized by data view, here: Twitter.
