This article highlights the key differences between the Classic Dashboard Experience and the New Dashboard Experience in TapClicks. It is designed to help users quickly understand where familiar actions now live and how widgets behave differently across both versions.
1. Downloading, Sharing, and Exporting
Quick Download
Classic
- Quick Download is a standalone button.
- Clicking it opens a pop-up where users select the download format.
- The “Include all sections in download” toggle appears at the bottom.
- Its tooltip shows when hovering over the question mark icon.
New
- Quick Download is inside the Share menu.
- Click Share → Quick Download.
- The “Include all sections in download” toggle appears above the download button.
- Tooltip appears when hovering over the underlined label.
Build PDF Report and Export to Report Studio
Classic
- Build PDF Report and Export to Report Studio are located inside the three-dot menu at the top of the dashboard.
New
- All export options are grouped under Share:
- Quick Download
- Build PDF Report
- Export to Report Studio
2. Editing Widgets and Widget Controls
Widget Edit Experience
Classic
- Hover → click More Options (⋮) → Edit.
- The Edit Widget panel opens on the right.Tabs: Data, Styles, Templates.
New
- Hover → click pencil icon directly to start editing.
- The Edit Widget panel still opens on the right.
- Tabs: Data, Filters, Styles, Templates.

- The filter list scrolls if there are many values.
Filter Ordering
Classic
- Order: Attribute filters first, then Metric filters.

On-Demand Widget Filters
Classic
- Widgets using on-demand filters do not show a View Filters button.

- On-demand widgets always show a View Filters button.
4. Custom Date Range Behavior
Classic
- Selecting Custom opens two calendars for selecting a date range.

5. Widget Movement and Resizing
Resize Behavior
Classic
- Resize is hidden behind More Options (⋮) → Move/Resize.
- The resize handle appears after choosing Move/Resize.

Moving Widgets
Classic

- A side panel opens to reorder widgets → click Done to save.

6. Data Display Differences
Pie Chart Legends
Classic
- Legends include categories with zero values.

- Legends exclude categories with zero values.
Axis Frequency Differences
Users may notice differences in the spacing of axis labels:
Classic
- Bar chart X-axis might show: 0, 100, 200, 300
- Line chart Y-axis might show: 0, 1M, 2M, 3M, 4M...
New
- Bar chart X-axis may increase granularity: 0, 50, 100, 150, 200...
- Line chart Y-axis spacing may adjust: 0, 2M, 4M, 6M...
- Why: The new experience uses updated scaling logic.
Normalization Behavior (Order of Metrics)
Classic
- Normalized widgets map left-to-right metric order to left-to-right Y axes.
New
- Normalized widgets map left-to-right metric order to right-to-left Y axes.
Currency and Percentage Axes
Classic
- Currency or % metrics still showed numbers only on Y axis.

- Currency metrics show $ symbols.
- Percentage metrics show % symbols.
Compact Number Formatting in Pie/Funnel Charts
Classic
- Pie and funnel label numbers displayed in full in UI and tooltip.

7. Widget Visual Differences
3D Chart Styles
Classic
- Supported Depth and Angle settings for 3D styling in:

Pie/Funnel Slice Color Positioning
Classic
Slice order placed some colors (e.g., red for clicks) consistently on one side.
