What are Business Units and why do I need them?
Business Units are used when you require separate branding for groups of clients that are managed through the same TapClicks instance. For example, assume that a supermarket chain is using TapClicks to generate sales reports for their branches in New York, SF, and Boston. Each city has a separate Account Manager, and each branch has numerous customers and products to be included in the report. In such a case, the supermarket chain will be the parent brand but each Account Manager will use a separate Business Unit to generate city-specific reports.
Can I import/export Business Units?
Yes. TapClicks has an import/export feature for Business Units. This feature will help you when you need to import/export in bulk. Please note that you can use only CSV file format for importing/exporting Business Units.
Can a Business Unit Admin manage multiple Business Units?
Yes, a Business Unit Admin can manage multiple Business Units. The way you would go about doing this is to create a group of Business Units.
Can I deactivate a Business Unit and if so, how?
Yes, a Business Unit can be deactivated. You might want to deactivate a Business Unit that is no longer relevant.
A Business Unit cannot however be deactivated while clients, client groups, or users remain assigned to it. So, these entities must all be reassigned to another Business Unit or deactivated prior to deactivating the Business Unit.
You deactivate a Business Unit in the Status area of the Edit Business Unit screen. But, the status option is grayed out if you still have client groups, clients, or users associated with that Business Unit. Helper text under the question mark reminds you why the Business Unit cannot be deactivated. Once all the attached clients, client groups, and users have been correctly reassigned or deactivated, the status option becomes available and you can then choose the Inactive radio button to deactivate the Business Unit.
After it is made inactive, that business unit will no longer be available in the client assignment dropdown or other areas where Business Unit assignments are managed and in the Business Unit selector in Orders/Workflow.
