Before you begin: This guide shows you how to create a Rank Tracking Report. A Rank Tracking Report shows you how keywords and keyword groups rank over time.
How to Enter the Website URL
To create a Rank Tracking Report, you start by entering the URL of the website you want to track into a search box
1] Login to TapClicks and on the left side menu click Raven.
2] Click Websites.
3] The SEO & SEM Productivity Tools page appears.
NOTE: You'll generally see a list of websites that have been added to the SEO & SEM Productivity Tools list. In the event that no websites have been added yet, you will see a welcome page that gives you the option to start a website audit or start organic rank tracking. |
4] If the website you want to create a Rank Tracking Report for is already in the list, locate it and click Organic Ranking just below the URL. The report gets updated automatically.
5] If the website you want to create a Rank Tracking Report for is not already in the list, click the Add New Website button in the upper right.
6] In the menu modal that appears, click Start Organic Rank Tracking.
7] The website form appears. Enter the URL of your website you'd like to track in the Website URL text box.
8] Hit Tab and the Website Name textbox populates automatically with the URL.
9] At the bottom of the page click Next. The add search engine page appears.
How to Specify Search Engines for Your Tracking Report
Website Rank Tracking Reports are generated based on search engine data. Here you get to specify one or more search engines to use for your report.
10] From the Search Engine dropdown choose a search engine to build you report around.
11] Choose your language from the Language dropdown.
12] Choose your country from the Location dropdown.
13] Choose the device type by clicking on the appropriate device icon (desktop or mobile).
14] To include additional search engines in the report, click Add Search Engine and repeat steps 10 – 13 for each search engine you want to add.
15] To remove a search engine from the report, click the red trashcan icon to the far right of the search engine.
16] When you've designated all the search engines, click Next at the bottom of the page. The keyword groups page appears.
How to Specify Keywords and Keyword Groups for Your Report
Rank Tracking Reports revolve around keywords. Here you get to specify keywords and group them into keyword groups.
NOTE: By default, keyword groups are titled "Default keyword group". You have the option to change that. |
17] To change the name of a keyword group, click the pencil icon to the far right.
18] The group name becomes editable. Change the name and click Enter.
NOTE: You may have to expand the keyword group to see it. To expand it, click the ">" to the left of the keyword group name. |
19] To add your own keywords individually, enter them—separated by a comma—into the Enter Your Own Keywords textbox. Once you enter the first keyword in the textbox, the Add Keywords button appears.
20] When you're done adding your keywords individually, click Add Keywords. The keywords are transferred to the Added Keywords section of the page on the right.
21] To add you own keywords via bulk upload of a CVS file, click the Upload CVS button.
22] Navigate to the CSV file and click Add. The keywords are entered in the Added Keywords section.
23] To add keywords, suggested for your domain, scroll down to the Suggested Keyword list.
24] Scroll through the Suggested Keyword list and select the checkbox to the left of each suggested keyword you want to add. After you add the first suggested keyword, the Add Selected button appears below the list.
25] When you're done adding the suggested keywords, click the Add Selected button.
26] To add another keyword group to populate with additional keywords, click Add Group at the bottom of the page.
27] Edit the group name per steps 17 & 18 if desired.
28] Repeat steps 19 – 25 for the new keyword group.
29] When you're done adding keywords and keyword groups, click Next at the bottom of the page.
30] On the next page, optionally enter the URL of a competitor into the Competitor URL textbox. This will enable you to see how the first URL compares to the competitor's URL for the specified keywords.
31] To add additional competitor URLs, click the +Add button to the right and repeat step 29.
32] When you're done adding competitors, click the Save button at the bottom of the page. The start tracking popup appears.
