Before you begin: There could be a number of reasons that you want to move assignments from one account to another account. The most common scenario is when a previous account is no longer active for a data source which could be due to employee turn over or internal account clean up efforts. It's important to note that if the account that connects to the data source is still active and can access the data source, and in many cases the data source API, you will not need to take this action. This guide will show you how to assign existing clients from one account to a new account.
Locate the Data Source
1] Login to TapClicks and click Data in the far right menu.
2] Click Data Sources.
3] On the Data Sources page, scroll through the list of data sources, or use the search box, to locate the data source for which you want to update the account.
4] When you locate the data source, click it.
Verify Credentials Connected to the Data Source
5] Click the down arrow on the All Connections dropdown menu.
6] From the menu, select the account that you intend to remove. In the example below, we want to move Connection ID 104 for Wesley.
7] Make a note of their assignments.
8] From the All Connections dropdown menu, select the new account. In the example below, the new account is Connection ID 6 for Alan.
NOTE: The new account credentials must be connected to the data source to confirm access to the assignments. If the new account is not connected, please connect it before continuing. |
9] Verify that the new account has access to the same assignments as the account you are removing (see step 7).
Update Connection ID
10] Close out the Data Source window.
11] At the bottom of the Data Sources page, click Manage Assignments.
12] Click the down arrow on the Data Source dropdown menu.
13] Scroll through the Data Source menu until you locate the data source of interest and click it.
NOTE: You will see a checkbox for Expand all assignments. This is an optional step only when establishing new TapClicks client to Data Source assignment connections and does not need to be used when moving all assignments to a new account. |
14] Click Download.
15] After the file downloads, open it with a spreadsheet program.
16] In the Connection ID column for the assignment rows you wish to update, input the Connection ID from Step 8 for the new account (in this example, the ID is 6 for Alan). You are indicating in the file that this Connection ID is changing from the existing value to the new value.
NOTE: In this example, there are multiple connections besides Wesley (104) and Alan (6). If there are certain assignments for accounts that you don't want to change (like Andrew in Connection ID 47 for example), you should remove those lines from the CSV file so that you don't accidently assign those records to the new account. If the assignments are moved to the new account and the new account doesn't have access, your fetches will fail (example: if Alan doesn't have access to Andrew's assignments, if we try to get data for Andrew's assignments through Alan's account, the fetches will fail because Alan doesn't have that access). |
17] Remove everything in the Connection Name column. This field can be left empty when the Connection ID field is used.
18] Save the file.
19] Back on the Manage Assignments page, click the Choose File button.
20] Navigate to locate the file and click Open to select it.
21] Click Upload to upload the file with the updated Connection IDs.
