Note: If you'd prefer to learn how to set up an Instant On Connector by watching a video, see [Video] Setting up an Instant On Connector.
Before you begin: TapClicks has partnerships with hundreds of data providers. These are called Instant On Connectors. Data from Instant On Connectors are already organized for your use in TapClicks reporting. When you want to connect data to TapClicks, first check to see if an Instant On Connector already exists for that data provider. You can find a list of all Instant On Connectors here.
Instructions:
How to Connect Your Data Using an Instant On Connector
An Instant On Connector is a way of pulling data into TapClicks using a native integration established with third-party data providers. Setting up an Instant On Connector is easy and only requires two operations: 1) Selecting the Instant On Connector from a list and then 2) authorizing the Instant On Connector with the third-party data provider.
1] On the left side menu, under Data Management, click Data Sources.
2] The entire menu of Instant On Connectors appears.
3] Scroll down to the Instant On Connector you want to use to connect to the third-party data provider.
NOTE: If the data provider you want to connect has a green plug icon in the upper right corner, that means it is already connected and you don't need to do a thing. If you would like to add another account to this same connector, select "Assign to Clients" for that data source. |
4] Click Connect at the bottom of the data source.
How to Authenticate the Instant On Connector
After you select the Instant On Connector, you have to authenticate and authorize it with the third-party data provider. Each data provider may have slightly different steps to authorize the connection. You can find the complete list of Data Source Guides for Instant On Connectors here.
NOTE: There are two ways to authenticate an Instant On Connector: 1) OAuth and 2) form fill. OAuth allows you to authenticate to the third-party data provider using another provider's authentication credentials (e.g., Google). With form fill, you'll provide credentials directly into the third-party's login form. Which option is available depends entirely on the data provider. |
5] First you'll authenticate by entering your credentials and clicking Log In.
NOTE: The steps below are for a particular data source. Other data sources should have similar, although not exact, steps. |
NOTE: If using OAuth for authentication, make sure to select the correct account (the one you want to use on the platform). One way to do that is to log in using Incognito Mode. |
6] Next you'll authorize the data provider to communicate with TapClicks. Select the pages you want to use (if given that option) and click Next or Allow.
7] Choose what you want to allow TapClicks to do and click Done.
8] Click OK.
9] After connecting you will land back in TapClicks and see a list of values from the data source (on the left) to connect to your TapClicks clients. When you click on one of the records on the left, you'll be asked to either select an existing client or create a new record. In many cases, this is an Advertiser or an Account or a Campaign from the data source, but it can vary.
10] After you click Assign Client, you can close this window and click Fetch my Data to prompt the system to fetch your data. If you do not take this step, simply check on your dashboard tomorrow, after the regular data fetches have started. Check out the Data Load Status page for details about your fetch status
NOTE: Once you complete all the steps to set up an Instant On Connector and authorize the data provider, you can start creating Reports using all the features in TapClicks. |
