Why are there no data showing in my dashboard?
There are a few reasons that data would not be showing in the dashboard:
- You may have not have clicked "Fetch My Data" after connecting your data sources
- You've connected a lot of data which means the system is taking longer to complete its initial fetch
- There is no data for the date range you have selected
If you don't click "Fetch My Data", our system automatically updates the system every morning around 6:00 am EST or based on your instance's fetch strategy.
Please note that Instagram, MOZ, and X (formerly Twitter) do not provide any historical data when first connected. As a result, you won’t see data immediately; you will only see data for these sources starting from the time you connect them onwards.
What are sample data in widgets?
When you are creating a widget in the custom dashboards, you can use sample data to populate the graphs and tables to give you an idea as to how that widget will look once it is fully built out and saved.
Often, when setting up a new data source, all the fetched data may not be immediately available. By using sample data, you can continue working without having to wait for the full dataset to propagate.
Where does sample data come from?
When TapClicks conducts an initial fetch, it grabs roughly 1000 rows of data. This small set of data is used to populate graphs with "sample data". If you would rather see more real-time data, as in data that corresponds to the date range you have selected, you can go into the draw options on the right-hand side to select that option.
Why doesn't my compare to prior period look right?
In TapClicks Dashboards and Widgets, you can compare date ranges to a prior period. These can be pre-populated values or custom ranges. If the compare period looks wrong when working with a custom range, instead of the default pre-populated options with the Compare to Prior Period feature, TapAnalytics will compare the exact number of days you select to the exact number of days in the prior period.
As an example, when you select a custom date range such as December 1-December 31st, we are actually comparing to the 31 days prior instead of the last month since the custom date range is based on the number of days. The logic for the 'Prior Period' pre-set is that it takes into account the type of current period being applied.
Here is a chart highlighting the prior period behavior for various current period pre-set options. A custom date range is based on days, so the prior period will be based on days too.
Why are time metrics adjusted differently in the dashboard?
The reason why we have time fields adjusted differently than other integer-based metrics is because when we get time formatted metrics, they are in strings and we treat those like we do plain text fields. So, you will see them adjusted to the left rather than the right-hand side.
Are the data in the dashboard real-time data?
In most cases, data are not real time within the dashboard. The regular data fetches will attempt to pull data for yesterday, and if yesterday's data are ready when the fetches start, that information will be loaded into your dashboard. For example, if you have a client with six converted clicks today for a data source, but you are not seeing them in the dashboard, it is because we will not go looking for today's data until tomorrow. There may be cases where data for today is available, but that is rare and dependent on individual data sources.
Additionally, there is a feature called On Demand Connectors that will allow you to refresh data for specific clients and assignments on demand. This is closer to real-time data but is still subject to how "real time" each data source makes their information. For more information about how to use On Demand Connectors, see this article. For FAQs about On Demand Connectors, see this article.
Can I change the color of text in dashboard?
You are able to customize your dashboards in a variety of ways, but changing text color is not currently available.
What are TapClicks Templates and Tags?
Templates are configurations you've saved to use as the starting point for new items so you don't have to start from scratch every time you create a new one. You can create templates for entire dashboards, sections of dashboards, and the widgets that go into dashboards. You can also save report and design templates when working in Report Studio.
Tags, comprised of one or two words, are self-assigned labels used to categorize things in TapClicks so they are easier to search for in the future. Tags can be created for and assigned to dashboards, dashboard sections, widgets, tasks, and files.
Can I set the first day of the week?
Yes. You can choose either Sunday or Monday as the first day of the week. A week period is defined by activity between seven days either from Sunday to Saturday or Monday to Sunday.
When the time grouping in a dashboard or a report studio widget is set to Weekly, the weekly start choice impacts the widgets' default aggregate (from Sunday to Saturday, or Monday to Sunday). However, individual widgets in a dashboard or report studio report can be changed on a widget-by-widget basis.
The start of the week is set across the platform and impacts the pop-up calendar, dashboards, Report Studio, and all scheduled reports. To modify the week's start date, go to the Admin section and choose the Application tab.
