How to Use TapMap (Advanced Geo Visualizations)

What is TapMap?

TapMap is an advanced Geo-visualization tool that allows you to create interactive and visually engaging maps within the TapClicks platform. With TapMap, you can plot and analyze location-based data, enhancing your data-driven decision-making process.

How to Create a TapMap Widget

1] In the upper-right corner of the dashboard, click the Add Widget (plus) icon.

2] The New Widget menu appear on the right side of the page. From the available headers, ensure Data Widget is selected. 

3] At the top of the widget menu, click the Geo Chart option.

4] Choose a Data Category and View that supports Geo Data. Data Views that support Geo will have a special location pin icon to the left when selecting them. You can view a list of connectors that support geographic data here.

5] Change the plot type to TapMap. Change the plot type to TapMap. If TapMap isn’t a visualization option in the dropdown, please contact your CSM or customercare@tapclicks.com for more information.

6] Then, click the Styles tab.

7] Choose a Layer Option that matches your data.

8] Scroll down and select an option from the Map Type dropdown menu.

9] You may also adjust the following style options as you see fit:

• Geo Layer Opacity: Adjust the transparency of geographic layers, with 0 being fully transparent and 100 being fully opaque

• Hide Geographic Features: Enable to hide map features like roads, parks, and water bodies for a cleaner visualization.

• Hide Zero Values: Enable to exclude data points with zero values from the map display.

10] After you have finished configuring and styling your new TapMap, click Save at the bottom of the widget menu.

Understanding TapMap Geo-Layers

TapMap offers multiple Geo-layers to visualize data at different levels of granularity. Each layer allows users to analyze performance trends across various geographic boundaries.

Country Level

• Aggregates data at the country level.
• Helpful for monitoring key metrics by country to quickly spot trends and adjust strategies.
• Example: To compare ad impressions across the US, Canada, and the UK, selecting the "Country" layer will aggregate data for each country.

State/Province Level

• Displays data at the state or province level within a country.
• Useful for analyzing performance differences between states or provinces.
• Example: A campaign running in the US can identify which states have the highest engagement.

City Level

• Aggregates data at the city level.
• Ideal for understanding city-specific trends and optimizing local campaigns.
• Example: A retail chain can analyze ad performance in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago to determine where to focus marketing efforts.

County Level

• Displays data at the county level within a state.
• Useful for regional advertising campaigns that require a more detailed breakdown than the state level.
• Example: A political campaign might use county-level data to target specific areas with high engagement.

Congressional District Level

• Displays data by US Congressional Districts.
• Primarily used in political advertising and advocacy campaigns.
• Example: A campaign manager for a congressional election can analyze engagement within specific districts.

Designated Market Areas (DMAs)

• Displays data based on Nielsen Designated Market Areas (DMA), which group geographic regions by media markets.
• Essential for television and digital marketing strategies that align with media markets.
• Example: A TV network running regional campaigns can track performance in the New York DMA versus the Chicago DMA.

Zip Code Level

• Displays data at the zip code level.
• Best for hyper-localized marketing and targeting.
• Example: A local business running Google Ads can determine which zip codes generate the most leads.
